Awa Joannais is a French-Malian dancer. Trained at Paris National Opera Dance School from 9 to 16 years old, she joins the Opera ballet in 2014. Member of the ballet for almost nine years, she performed in great classical ballets but also in more and more contemporary repertoire, including pieces by Anne Teresa de Keersmaker, Pina Bausch, Hofesh Shechter, Carolyn Carlson, Bobbi Jene Smith and Or Schraiber, among others. 

In 2023, she left the Ballet to become an independent dancer. She is currently performing in De Fugues… en suites… by Salia Sanou and works with Gerard and Kelly on different projects. In parallel, she develops her own projects, while teaching.
