Penda Diouf

Penda Diouf writes for theatre. Her plays La grande Ourse(winner of the jury prize at the Text'avril festival at the Théâtre de la Tête Noire in 2018, winner of the Collidram Prize in 2021, finalist for the Sony Labou Tansi Prize in 2022) and Pistes...(La Chartreuse Reading Committee Prize, Best Radio Drama in Germany in 2022, Marulić Grand Prize for radio drama in Croatia, broadcast on France Culture) are published by Quartett.

More recently, her play Sœurs nos forêts aussi ont des épines(2024) was published by Les Solitaires intempestifs and staged by director Silvia Costa.

Penda Diouf collaborated for two years on the Opéra de ci de là programme at the Festival d'arts lyriques d'Aix en Provence.

She has benefited from several writing residencies at the Institut français in Tunis, the Royal Court in London, the Villa Albertine in New York and the Théâtre National de Strasbourg, and made in 2021 the documentary, Voies sensibles : l’art de marcher en Seine-Saint-Denis(Sensitive Paths: The Art of Walking in Seine-Saint-Denis) for France Culture as part of a residency programme at the MC93 - Bobigny.

With Anthony Thibault, she co-founded the Jeunes textes en libertélabel, which supports contemporary playwrights and promotes greater diversity in storytelling and representation on the theatre scene.

Penda Diouf was awarded the 2023 New Theatre Talent by the SACD.
